Prime Minister J.Erdenebat travels to Umnugovi, visits Oyu Tolgoi

Over the last weekend Mr. Erdenebat Jargaltulga, Prime Minister of Mongolia, traveled to Umnugovi province and visited concentrator, open-pit and underground operations of strategically important Oyu Tolgoi mine, located in Khanbogd Soum.

The Prime Minister was accompanied by Mr. Tumentsogt Tsevegmid, CEO of Erdenes Mongol LLC and Mr. Munkhbaatar Begzjav, CEO of Erdenes Oyu Tolgoi LLC which owns government shares in the project, and other officials at Oyu Tolgoi project site.

Prime Minister J.Erdenebat highlighted that intensifying operations of big projects is one way to overcome current economic problems and important for further development of Mongolia. The Prime Minister also stated that this has to be based on business principles, mutually beneficial, and favorable for interests of the people of Mongolia.

Mr. Munkhbaatar Begzjav, CEO of Erdenes Oyu Tolgoi LLC, emphasized that “As 34% shareholder, the new government’s position is to have relations based on win-win principles, and further attention needs to be paid to increasing Mongolian companies’ participation in OT project and improving corporate governance standards.”
